Alison Brown Quartet

Acoustic instrumental music has never been so beautifully represented as by Alison Brown. As one of the most multi-faceted minds on today’s roots music scene, every one of Alison’s endeavors is marked by innovation, intelligence, and grace. As a banjo player, she throws out the textbook when it comes playing the banjo and the result is a sound that blends the rugged drive of bluegrass with the harmonic sensibilities of jazz, earning vast acclaim and a GRAMMY award in the process. She’s toured with Alison Krauss and Union Station, and Michelle Shocked, played the Kennedy Center and Telluride Bluegrass Festival, New Orleans Jazz Festival and the Newport Folk Festival among others. Tonight she brings her banjo and her quartet to the Opera House and we are confident that audiences may never think about the banjo the same way again. Advance discounted tickets, $35, available beginning February 14 from the box office at 207-633-5159. Regular tickets $40, available online only from this Opera House website and on the day of the show at the door.
