Richard Furneaux Remsen owns and operates The Foundry in West Rockport, Maine, where he works as a glass artist and a steel and bronze sculptor. He studied at St. Albans School in Washington D.C., Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and received his BFA in Sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island. Mr. Remsen studied glass blowing with glass artists Dale Chihuly, Dominic Labino, Fritz Dreisbach, Dan Dailey, Italo Scanga, Pino Signoretto and foundry work with Raoul Goyette. The Foundry, established in 1974 in a converted blueberry plant, is a unique and kinetic art studio where work is created using a variety of materials, including cast bronze, forged iron, welded steel, stainless steel, blown glass, cast glass and paper.
