1. Ski over the Sea at Camden Snow Bowl

The Camden Snow Bowl has something for everyone, 23 trails varying in difficulty, breathtaking views of the ocean, night skiing, and even the country’s first and only wooden Toboggan Chute. This truly is a unique and memorable mountain with lots to offer.

 

2. Cross Country Ski at Holbrook Island Sanctuary

This island is home to many different ecosystems as well as animals, which makes it the ultimate cross country skiing destination. You never know what you might find on the trail!

 

3. Walk the Rockland Breakwater to the Lighthouse

This is a classic destination in Rockland and the winter weather just illuminates how unique the 4,300 foot breakwater really is.

 

4. Skate and Stay at the Samoset Resort

This gorgeous resort is pulling out all the stops this winter. They offer an ice skating rink with views of the Penobscot as well as an incredibly lavish Ice Bar and Lounge made from over 20,000 pounds of crystal-clear glacier ice!

Sledding is a blast at any age. It’s a low maintenance activity that packs a punch. There are dozens of great free hills around MidCoast Maine to explore!

 

7. Hit the Beach! 

It might be too cold to bring your bathing suit but the views of Popham Beach in Phippsburg will make the trip more than worth it. Take in the view of the ocean or explore Fort Popham. You’ll probably have the place to yourself.

 

8. Snowmobile Through the MidCoast

If you’re looking to add a little adrenaline into your trip snowmobiling is for you. There are fantastic trails around the MidCoast tailored for snowmobilers that will keep your heart pumping as well as provide you with some stunning sights. Snowmobile Maine provides a great list of clubs to get in touch with all across the state.

 

9. Snowshoe with a Master Maine Guide

10. Surfs Up!

It may seem crazy to some but Maine has some incredible surfing beaches that THRIVE in the winter months. Reid State Park in Georgetown has nice swells. Bring a board and a wet suit, or watch the action from the shore for great photos.
