Popham Beach State Park

Phippsburg

One of the least crowded, sandy beaches in Maine. It’s also the site of the historic Popham Colony, founded in 1607. For an adventure, walk out to Fox Island, which is only accessible at low tide. Once there, scramble up the rocks, explore tide pools, and look for the two lighthouses on nearby land. Check a tide calendar so that you don’t end up marooned.
