On Saturdays and Sundays, November 30 through December 22 the Boothbay Railway Village will be running the “North Pole Express!” Departures will run 8 times each day beginning at 10:00. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended to avoid disappointment or long waits. Sales are open now! Click HERE for tickets.
SPECIAL PROMO: BE THE FIRST! Santa has an extra gift waiting for all of the good little boys and girls who visit the North Pole early! Mention this promo when you arrive with your ticket on November 30th or December 1st to receive your special gift. (Valid for Nov 30 and Dec 1 only, one gift per child).
EVENT DETAILS: Start your trip inside historic 1912 Freeport Station (the main train station at the Museum) by writing your letter to Santa by warmth of the wood stove.
Train conductors will call “All Aboard” and everyone, young and old, will board the train to the North Pole. A special keepsake (that will help spark the magic leap to the North Pole) will be given to each child. Settle into a comfortable seat in the classic passenger car or our “Little Red Caboose” No. 551, built in 1904. As you round the tracks, enjoy the winter wonderland of forest frosted with white snow (weather permitting, of course.)
The train will carry you through the Village and arrive at the North Pole (Thorndike Station) where a special guest wearing a red suit with a jolly belly will jump aboard to greet you! Yes, Santa himself will attend!
After meeting the “big guy” in person the train will whisk you back to the station where multiple opportunities await. You are invited to join us in the Spruce Point Chapel for a storybook reading. Families can saunter over to the Bonfire on the Village green and Harrington House Barn to warm your winter fingers and have the opportunity to enjoy more food and beverage options. Be sure to check out the vintage holiday display inside Harrington House which will be decked out in 1940s style. Passengers want to head to the 1847 Boothbay Town Hall for more festivities. Inside guests will be treated to hot chocolate and homemade treats while enjoying the Museum’s own locomotive and a holiday themed layout under the Village’s Christmas tree. Children will also be invited to make a vintage-inspired holiday ornament to take home.
Weather permitting, the exhibits on the Museum’s lower campus will be open for exploring. The grounds and activities will be open from 9:45 am – 4:00 pm both Saturdays and Sundays.
Standard tickets are $21 for attendees three years and older. Museum members receive a $4 discount per ticket. Children under 3 years of age do not require a ticket; however, they must sit on an adult’s lap. Please note that the Boothbay Railway Village reserves the right to run either steam or diesel at this event; also, for safety, there will be no car seats or strollers permitted on the trains.
