SUMMARY:Thompson Ice House Ice Harvest
DESCRIPTION:Join in harvesting ice from Thompson Pond! Enjoy watching Kenny Lincoln\, Thompson Ice House President\, make the first cut as he saws through the ice using original tools and equipment. Once a channel is clear to float the ice along\, the fun begins; poking\, prodding and floating large ice blocks toward the old ice house\, where they enter the building to brave souls who stack the ice safely inside\, just as it has been done for 200 years. All ages enjoy sawing through the ice\, or prodding blocks along to the conveyor. \nAdd to the fun some grilled hot dogs\, hot chocolate\, coffee\, soup\, chili\, and baked goods\, and it is a day to look forward to each year. Hundreds of people save the date to participate in a little history and preserving a Maine tradition.

SUMMARY:North Pole Express
DESCRIPTION:Start your trip inside historic 1912 Freeport Station (the main train station at the Museum) by writing your letter to Santa near the warmth of the wood stove. \nTrain conductors will call “All Aboard” and everyone\, young and old\, will board the train to the North Pole. A special keepsake (that will help spark the magic leap to the North Pole) will be given to each child. Settle into a comfortable seat in the classic passenger car or our open-air “Little Red Caboose” No. 551\, built in 1904. As you round the tracks\, enjoy the winter wonderland of forest frosted with white snow (weather permitting\, of course.) \nThe train will carry you through the Village and arrive at the North Pole (Thorndike Station) where a special guest wearing a red suit with a jolly belly will jump aboard to greet you! Yes\, Santa himself will attend!  After meeting the “big guy” in person the train will whisk you back to the station where multiple opportunities await. \n  \nWeekends leading up to Christmas\, 2025\nDec 6 & 7\nDec 13 & 14\nDec 20 & 21\nTrain runs every 45 minutes:\n10:45 am | 11:30 am | 12:15 pm | 1:00 pm\n1:45 pm | 2:30 pm | 3:15 pm | 4:00 pm

SUMMARY:Villages of Light
DESCRIPTION:The Villages of Light celebration is an annual event that takes place Thanksgiving weekend every year.  The event brings the spirit of the holidays to the Twin Villages of Damariscotta and Newcastle and kicks off the Christmas season. Upward to 70 decorated Christmas trees line Main Street in the Twin Villages\, and two 20-foot decorated Christmas trees bookend the towns.  The bridge connecting the two towns is draped with garland and lights and wreaths are hung on poles throughout town. On Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend\, children gather in Skidompha Library to enjoy cookies and treats and make crafts to take home. Mid-day\, Santa arrives at Lincoln Theater to listen to the children’s wishes which is followed by a free Christmas movie. The Parade of Lights begins around dark (4:30) and Santa & Mrs. Clause arrive in a horse-drawn sleigh followed by decorated floats\, fire trucks\, cars\, dancers and elves\, bringing the spirit of Christmas to the Twin Villages.  After the parade\, visitors enjoy a local meal in town or a festive holiday drink called “cup of cheer.” I
