Exploring MidCoast Maine with a Baby
Kanya and baby Summit set out on a special Maine adventure with friends
We had an amazing weekend camping with Alpine Women Collective and Maine’s MidCoast!
Alpine Women Collective hosted their first Camp Weekend in Camden Hills State Park and Summit and I went along!
We at Hills & Trails Co. printed gold custom bandannas for the event with Mount Megunticook & Mount Battie, the two mountains hiked during the weekend.
Our summer place is in Union, Maine which is near Camden Hills, making it easy to drop Summit off at camp while I joined them on a hike up beautiful Mt. Megunticook!
Camden Hills is a great place to hike along Maine’s coast, you get to experience the mountains and the ocean. The best thing to do is take a refreshing swim after a satisfying hike.
After picking up baby Summit, we joined the girls on a sunset sailing trip on the Mornings in Maine sailboat. First mate Summit made it the whole way!
I’ve been walking the mile long breakwater to the Rockland Lighthouse since I was very young but I have never seen it from a boat! I definitely recommend taking a trip across the harbor and viewing the lighthouse, and also Owls Head Light and Park.
After a fun night of sitting by the campfire. Alpine Womens Collective headed up Mt Battie where Summit and I met them….well on top of the Summit!
I highly recommend climbing Mt Battie if you are in Camden. It’s a nice, short hike with plenty of blueberry bushes everywhere and a scenic view of the Camden Harbor. James and I always hike the trail entrance which is outside of the park. The trail has huge exposed tree roots as you climb up the mountain.
The weekend wasn’t over yet! Everyone hopped on the bus and went to Waterman’s Lobster in Thomaston Maine. This was my first time here and the lobster roll on a round bun was delicious.
The Camp Weekend ended with a stop at Newcastle to see the farm and try the brews at Oxbow Brewery. Summit even got to see his first pig!
Thank you to Alpine Women Collective and Maine’s Midcoast for a great weekend!
