Belfast & Searsport

Belfast & Searsport

You can learn about Maine's seafaring history at Searsport's Penobscot Marine Museum, the oldest maritime museum in Maine. Off the coast of Searsport is Sears Island, a large uninhabited island on the East Coast. You can reach this island by a causeway to go biking, walking or snowshoeing.

Every Friday evening in July and August, you can join the Belfast Art Gallery Walk of more than 15 galleries. You can also go kayaking along the coast to explore Belfast Harbor and the islands in Penobscot Bay. Belfast also boasts the country’s oldest shoe store, Coburn's Shoe.
