Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor & Southport

Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor & Southport

Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor celebrate their maritime heritage with the Windjammer Days festival in June and the Fisherman's Festival in April. You can take one of many boat tours in the area to see lighthouses, islands, seals, whales or puffins. Southport is a small island at the tip of the Boothbay Peninsula, connected to the mainland by a swing bridge. You can learn more about Southport's history at The Hendricks Hill Museum.

Activities

You can watch live performances at the Boothbay Playhouse and The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor.

You can also play golf at the Boothbay Country Club, walk along 138 acres of paths at the Linekin Preserve, or see more than 350 native species at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. The two-acre Children's Garden features a Story Barn full of picture books, a Learning Garden, a shallow Blueberry Pond and a maze. You and your family can also visit the Maine State Aquarium, which has two touch tanks featuring gentle sharks and tide pool inhabitants.
